一、本系為能順利推展博士班、碩士班、大學部課務,訂定本課程開設辦法(以下簡稱本辦法),藉以作為課程安排之準則。本系所有專任教師不分職級、不論是否兼任行政工作,皆應配合本辦法。These regulations (hereinafter the Regulations) are established by the Department of Foreign Languages and Literature to govern the administration of curricula and to facilitate course arrangement for FLLD graduate and undergraduate programs.  All full-time faculty members, regardless of their academic or administrative positions, shall comply with the Regulations.

二、

    本系專任教師每學年應授足基本授課時數(教授14小時、副教授及助理教授16小時)*,且以外文系所必修課程課程為優先。除編制內行政主管之行政職抵外,其他教師每學年最低授課鐘點不應低於14。同一學年度中已申請休假研究、出國講學或因請假而有未授課情形者,單一學期之授課鐘點應維持教授至少8鐘點、副教授及助理教授至少9鐘點。Each full-time faculty member is responsible for a minimum number of teaching hours as designated by the Department (14 for full professor and 16 for associate/assistant professor) with the priority of course assignment given to FLLD required courses.

    本系英語科專任教師原則上每學年應於外文系所、教育學程必修課(「英語教材教法」、「英語教學實習」與「英語實習輔導」)、外文系特色課程、及「A1外國語言」之英文課程授足基本授課時數;每人每學期應負擔一門以上系上必修、選修、教育學程必修課程或外文系特色課程,且以安排本系基礎語言訓練課程為優先。In principle each full-time English teacher in each academic year has to teach sufficient number of hours for FLLD, required courses in the Teacher Training program (“PCK: English / Language Art Learning Field of English” and “Teaching Practicum: English / Language Art Learning Field of English”) , FLLD signature courses or English courses in A1 International language program.  That is, the teacher should offer at least one FLLD required or elective course, required course in the Teacher Training Program or FLLD signature course, with priority of course assignment given to FLLD basic language training courses.

    自九十九學年度起外文系作文課為所有英文專任教師必須輪教科目,採積點制(教授一學期計一點),並另訂作文課排課要點規範之。Since the 2010-2011 academic year all the full-time English teachers have to teach FLLD English composition courses, following a rotation system based on accumulation of credit points (one point for teaching one such course for one semester).  The regulations governing the assignment of the English composition courses to the teachers are specified in another rule.

    自103學年度起,本系專任教師兼行政職已減免授課鐘點者,不得擔任「英語實習輔導」課程。擔任「英語實習輔導」課程者,每學年以一鐘點為限。A teacher can only teach one credit hour of the course “English Intern Teacher Counseling” in one academic year.  Since the 2014-2015 academic year, full-time teachers who already enjoy deduction of teaching hours due to administrative duties can no longer teach the course.

    教師最低授課鐘點以各課程之原始鐘點計算,各項加計鐘點(如選課人數、英語授課、跨領域課程、MOOCs等)不計入本系最低授課鐘點計算,但仍可採計為教師授課鐘點數並加計鐘點費。The calculation of the required minimum teaching hours are based on the real-time teaching hours of each course.  None of the extra counted  time based on weighting of the exceeding number of enrolled students, EMI, Interdisciplinary orientation, MOOCs, etc.) are counted into the required minimum.  However, these extra hours are still counted into a teacher’s total teaching hours and duly paid.

三、本系英語科助理教授以上應協助於研究所開授課程,每學期至多開設一門課程,惟每兩學年至少開設一門課程。本校行政主管於任期內得不受本條文限制。English faculty members, from assistant professors and above, can offer one graduate course at most in a semester and should offer at least one graduate course every two years.  NCKU administrators may be exempted from the current rule.

 

(一) 為落實系所教學目標,並尊重學生受教權益,文學與語言學兩組教師應分別於兩組月會縝密規劃研究所課程,依照學門屬性,分別規劃出不同學群(例:文學組研究所課程四大學群分別為「浪漫時期前英國文學」、「浪漫時期及其後英國文學」、「美國文學」、「文學理論」;語言學組研究所課程三大學群分別為「理論語言學」、「應用語言學」、「外語教學」),並在月會中自行協調,務必維持每學年各學群至少開設一門課的基本門檻。To meet the educational objectives of our department and to honor the students’ rights to proper education, teachers of the literature and the language groups should discuss and plan the curricula of the graduate programs in the monthly meetings of the respective groups.  Various sets of courses are to be offered according to different disciplinary demands.  For example, the four sets in the graduate program of literature studies are “English Literature Before Romanticism,” “English Literature Since Romanticism,” “American Literature,” and “Literary Theories”: the three sets in the graduate program of language studies are “Theoretical Linguistics,” “Applied Linguistics,” and “Foreign Language Teaching.”  Through the negotiation in the monthly meetings, each group should ensure that, in every academic year, at least one course from each set be offered in its graduate program.

(二) 兩組月會應於實際開課前一學年度上學期協調研究所開課事宜,並於上學期期末前將協調結果提交至教務人員,作為下學期排課之依據。(例:101學年度上學期末完成102學年度研究所課程之規劃。)In the first semester of an academic year, the literature and language faculty groups should discuss and negotiate in monthly meetings about the courses to be offered in the graduate programs in the coming academic year.  The results of the negotiation should be presented to the office staff member in charge of curriculum administration to facilitate the course arrangements next academic year.  For example, the arrangements of the graduate-level courses for the 2013-2014 academic year should be completed at the end of the first semester of the 2012-2013 academic year.

四、本系專任教師開設選修課程,應隔一個學期才能重複開課。It is advised that an elective course must be offered at one-semester interval at least.

五、為保障本系所開排課、並顧及跨系院網脈之建立,擬規範教師支援其他單位開課及鐘點數。本系專任教師於滿足系所開課相關辦法,且相關專長之課程無需支援情況下,得支援通識、服務學習、特色課程等課程,以同一教師每學期不超過3鐘點、且每學年至多一門課為原則。然教師若已經在本系開滿應授鐘點,選擇採超點鐘的方式支援其他單位開課,則不受本要點規範。To ensure sufficient numbers of courses offered in FLLD while establishing connections across departments and colleges, FLLD full-time teachers’ offering of courses outside the department is thus regulated.  As long as a FLLD full-time teacher has fulfilled the related requirements by the department’s course-offering policies and the department does not require him or her to offer courses related to his/her specialties, the said teacher can offer courses in General Education program, NCKU Service Study, FLLD signature course, etc.  The teacher can offer the above-mentioned courses in this way only once every year and with three credit hours at most in a semester.  However, the teacher’s offering of courses outside FLLD will not be regulated if he or she teaches all the credit hours required by the department and choose to teach those non-FLLD courses overtime.

六、本系專任教師開設之選修科目,如因未達開課人數標準(碩博班3人、大學部12人),依教務規定應予停開。如該科授課時數含於授課教師之基本鐘點,得簽准續開,然若隔年開課仍未達開課人數標準,應依規定停開課程。若因停開造成授課鐘點不足,應於次學期補足應授鐘點。An elective course offered by an FLLD full-time teacher will be cancelled if the number of the enrolled students does not reach the threshold (3 for a graduate and 12 for an undergraduate course).  However, the course can still be offered through approval of a petition if its teaching hours are part of the teacher’s minimum required teaching hours.  When a course is offered under such a condition, it cannot be offered next year when the same situation of insufficient enrollments happen again.  If the cancellation of such a course causes a teacher’s insufficiency of teaching hours, teaching hours should be made up in next semester.

七、因應學校課程審查流程進度,有意增設課程之教師應自行至教務辦公室索取申請表格,於期限內提出申請,並得視需要於課程委員會開會審議時列席說明。上學期八月三十一日以前提出下學期之課程綱要或各項課程異動,下學期二月二十八日以前提出新學年度上學期之課程綱要或各項課程異動。To follow the school’s schedule of course-review process, a teacher who intends to create a new course should come to the department office to solicit the application form and submit it before the deadline; he or she may also need to attend a session of the curriculum committee and explicate the course to be offered when it is reviewed.  The deadline is August 31 in the first semester if a teacher is applying for creation of a new course or for alteration of the details of an existing course to be offered in the second semester; the deadline is February 28 in the second semester if the same kinds of applications are about the courses to be offered in the first semester of the coming academic year.

 

八、欲開授之課程如為其他同仁已建構之課程,則須先取得原授課或原建構教師之書面同意始可開授。A teacher who intends to teach a course created by another teacher can do so only after he or she has secure a consent in written form from the colleague who created the course.

 

九、所有課程之異動均須以書面方式於上述規定期限內送交教務委員會討論。All the changes to course arrangements must be presented in written form to and discussed by the curriculum committee before the deadlines specified above.

(一) 系上有必、選修課程待授時,須以書面及/或EMAIL方式週知系上專任老師,以維公平並期減少爭議。When FLLD required and elective courses require teachers, the related information should be announced to all full-time teachers through email or in other written forms to ensure equal access to the opportunities of teaching them.

(二) 本系同仁如有意接授系上必、選修課程時,也需以書面提出,並擲交系教務辦公室,俾利作業。When an FLLD full-time teacher intends to take over a required or elective course, he or she should propose a written request to the department staff member in charge of the curricular administration.

(三) 經「課程委員會」討論決定後,再提系務會議確認。專業課程則請依課程性質,先分別請文學組教師或語言組教師交換意見,並交「課程委員會」討論後,提請系務會議確認。The curriculum committee should first discuss and rule on proposal; the ruling is then presented to the faculty meeting for confirmation.  A proposal concerning a specialty course should be first presented to and discussed by either the language or literature faculty group according to the disciplinary nature of the course.  The opinions or suggestions thus gathered will be presented to the curriculum committee while it is considering the proposal; the ruling still needs to be confirmed by the faculty meeting.

(四) 已排定、且經兩組月會及課程委員會確認通過之下一學期課程如有任何異動(如取消、合班、換課…等)需求,須填寫異動申請表(如附件),於每學期第十四週前向課程委員會提出申請及說明,由系主任及課程委員會審議決定始可異動。If any changes (such as canceling, merging, replacing of courses, etc.) need to be made to the course arrangements of the coming semester that are already settled and approved by the two faculty groups and the curriculum committee, the teacher requesting the changes should first fill in an application form (attached in this regulation) and submit it to the curriculum committee.  The changes are not to be permitted until the department chair and the committee have reviewed and approved the applications.

 

十、本系專業必修課程與服務課程之安排,原則上由行政單位依課程需要及教師授課意願處理,如有爭議或特殊狀況而無法依循上述辦法時,由課程委員會或系主任決定,並做成書面紀錄,同時公告週知。In principle, the administration will consider both curriculum needs and faculty members’ personal preferences for the assignments of FLLD required or service courses. Should any controversy or exceptional case arise in contradiction to the aforementioned rules, the FLLD Curriculum Committee or the Chair will make the final decision, which should be officially documented and announced to the faculty.

 

十一、本系專任教師未符合本開課辦法開課者,每學期名單由課程委員會提送至本系教評會、於相關福利案(如休假研究、減授鐘點、評量、升等等)申請時列入考慮,相關辦法由系教評會另訂之。A roster of FLLD full-time teachers who fail to comply with the aforementioned regulations will be presented to the Faculty Review Committee for its consideration when the committee is reviewing the teachers’ application for benefits (such as sabbatical leave, reduction of required teaching hours, promotion, etc.).  Related regulations should be established by the Faculty Review Committee.

 

十二、本辦法經系務會議通過後實施,修訂時亦同。This regulation is enforced after it is approved by the faculty meeting; so are the changes made to it.
