一、本作業規定依據「國立成功大學學生逕修讀博士學位作業規定」訂定。

Article 1    These Regulations have been established and amended from “Regulations on Processing Direct Admission into the Doctorate Program from the Master’s Program in National Cheng Kung University”.

二、申請逕行修讀博士學位學生由原就讀或相關系、所、院、學位學程助理教授以上二人推薦，且於規定時間內向本系提出申請，經本系依據下列標準，審定其資格。

(一) 學士班應屆畢業生(含申請提前畢業生)之名次在該班學生前三分之二以內，或經本系學生事務委員會評定為表現優異，並具研究潛力者。

(二)碩士班修業一學期以上，名次在該班學生前三分之二以內，具研究潛力者。

Article 2    Students who apply for Direct Admission into the Doctorate Program from the Master’s Program must be recommended by two faculty members who are assistant professors or above from the previous or relevant department, institution, college, or degree program. Students must also submit their application to the Department within the designated time frame. The Department shall review the eligibility of students for the direct pursuit of entry to the PhD program based on the criteria shown below.

I.            Graduating undergraduate students (including students who apply for early graduation) who are ranked within the top two-thirds of their class  and have been recognized by the Student Affairs Committee of the Department as being endowed with great research potential due to their excellent academic performance may apply to the PhD program.

II.         Master’s program students who have taken at least one semester of courses and are ranked within the top two-thirds of their class, or who have been recognized by the Student Affairs Committee of the Department as being endowed with great research potential due to their excellent academic performance, may apply to the PhD program.

三、逕修讀本系博士班名額，以當年度教育部核定博士班招生名額之百分之四十核計。但當核定招生名額不足五人時，逕修讀博士學位名額最多兩名。

前項名額包含於當學年度教育部核定學校招生總量內。

Article 3    The PhD. direct admission quota of the Department is set to 40% of the total number of admitted students in doctoral programs approved by the Ministry of Education. However, if the approved annual admission quota is less than 5 persons, the number of PhD direct admission students shall not number more than 2 persons.

The aforementioned quota shall be included in the total student admission quota approved by the Ministry of Education.

四、辦理逕修讀本系之甄試得與博士班研究生入學考試同時舉行，甄試方式為口試(50%)與審查(50%)，經本系招生委員會審查通過，提報教務處彙辦相關簽核事宜。

Article 4    The Department's PhD direct admission evaluation may be held at the same time as the entrance examination for doctoral students. The evaluation criteria are weighted using 50% for the oral examination and 50% for the application package. The review should be approved by the Student Admission Committee, and report to the Office of Academic Affairs for relevant approval matters.

五、申請本系之學生報名應繳交之資料：

(二)二封推薦函（若為碩士生須有碩士指導教授推薦函）

(三)研究計畫

(四)自傳

Article 5    Required Documents for application:

I.            Undergraduate and graduate academic transcripts

II.         Two letters of recommendation (master's students must have the recommendation from their advisor)

III.      Research Proposal

IV.      Autobiography

六、 核准逕修讀博士學位之學士班應屆畢業生應於當學年度取得學士學位，於就讀前未取得者，廢止其逕修讀博士學位資格。核准逕讀博士學位學生，不得申請保留入學資格。

前項學生為成績優異提前一學期畢業者，得於取得學士學位之次學期入學就讀博士班。

Article 6    Students who have been granted to enroll in the Direct Pursuit of Doctoral Program are required to obtain their bachelor's degree. The PhD admission will be canceled if the candidate fails to obtain his/her bachelor's degree before the doctoral program begins. The admission for Direct Pursuit of Doctoral Program may not be maintained.

Any aforementioned students who graduate one semester ahead of schedule due to excellent academic performance can register for the PhD program in the semester following their obtaining of their bachelor's degree.

七、逕修讀博士學位之研究生，進入本系一年內不可提出指導教授異動之申請。倘因故中止修讀博士學位或未通過博士學位候選人資格考核，經本系系務會議審查通過，簽請校長核定後，得轉至原指導教授所屬的碩士班或原碩士班就讀。

轉入(回)碩士班後，不得再行申請逕行修讀博士學位。

Article 7    Master students admitted into the Direct Pursuit of Doctoral Program are not allowed to change their advisor within the first year. If for any reason a student suspends their PhD studies or fails the PhD qualifying examination, he/she should return to the original master’s program after a review by the Department Affair Committee Meeting and its approval by the President.

After enrolling in/returning to the master's program, the student is not eligible to apply for the Direct Pursuit of Doctoral Program again.

八、逕修讀博士學位研究生修業期滿，通過博士學位候選人資格考核，但未通過博士學位考試，其博士學位考試委員會決定合於碩士學位標準者，得授予碩士學位。

Article 8    Upon the completion of their studies, if PhD students enrolled in Direct Pursuit of Doctoral Program pass the qualified examination but fail to pass their thesis defense for the doctoral degree, they shall nevertheless be awarded a master’s degree after approval by the Doctoral Examination Committee.

九、碩士班學生經本校核定准予逕修讀博士學位者，非經自請撤銷逕修讀博士學位資格，不得再參加原碩士班學位考試。

Article 9    Master’s students who have been admitted by Direct Pursuit of Doctoral Program should not take the original master’s thesis defense unless they are willing to give up their eligibility for the doctoral degree.

十、申請逕修讀本系博士班之研究生，不得再申請轉所。

Article 10                Graduate students who are admitted to the Direct Pursuit of Doctoral Program are not allowed to apply for transfer to other institutes.

十一、本作業規定經系務會議通過後施行，修正時亦同。

Article 11                These regulations have been implemented with approval at the Department Affairs Committee Meeting. All subsequent amendments shall apply the same process.
