1.       The National Cheng Kung University Directions on Financial Aid for Students’ Living Expenses (hereinafter referred to as “the Directions”) were promulgated to help students with financial difficulties pursue their studies and respond to The Financial Aid Project for Financially Disadvantaged University and College Students (hereinafter referred to as “the Project”) proposed by the Ministry of Education.

2.       Expenses for the Directions are covered by the annual budget of the University.

3.       Undergraduate students eligible for financial aid under the Project may apply for financial aid as stated in the Directions. However, students whose average score in the previous semester does not reach 60 or who have received a reprimand or more serious penalties without providing campus services as compensation shall not apply for said aid.

4.       The number of aid recipients according to the Directions shall not, in principle, be less than that of the undergraduate departments of the year concerned. The Student Assistance Division (hereinafter referred to as “the Division”) of the Office of Student Affairs determines the number of recipients per department proportionally according to the student population of each department in the year concerned.

The financial aid is granted during the September–December period in the first semester and the March–June period in the second semester.

5.       The Division annually surveys students’ applications for financial aid for the Project to establish their intention of applying for financial aid specified in the Directions. After the Ministry of Education ratifies the eligibility of students intending to apply, the University tabulates the eligible students, submits the tabulation results and financial aid application forms to corresponding departments for recipient selection, and submits lists of selected students to the Division for approval.

Students from low-income families or with unfavorable household economic situations are prioritized.

6.       Ratified recipients of financial aid are granted NT$3,000 or NT$6,000 per month. However, the grant is terminated in the subsequent month should the recipient

(1)    be suspended or dismissed from school or

(2)    receive a reprimand or more serious punishment without providing campus services as compensation.

Any vacancy caused by the aforementioned two conditions is filled by an applicant on the waiting list, and the applicant receives the financial aid until the grant period expires.

7.       The Directions and subsequent amendments come into effect upon approval by the Chief Administrators’ Council.
