To supervise the study of doctoral students in the institute of manufacturing information and systems (hereinafter referred to as "the institute") and maintain the level of doctoral programs, these regulations are hereby established. Admission 2. Admission examination-related regulations shall be handled in accordance with the admissions brochure of this university. Selection of advisor 3. Doctoral students should select or be designated a doctoral dissertation advisor by the institute meeting within one month of the first semester after enrollment and submit it to the institute in writing. 4. The doctoral dissertation advisor must be a full-time assistant professor or above in the institute. Faculty from other departments may serve as co-advisors. Course selection and length of study 5. Students must submit a course plan within six months of enrollment. 6. The duration of the doctoral program is 2 to 7 years, with the option of extending for one year for in-service students. 7. In addition to seminar courses and the dissertation, doctoral students must complete at least 18 credits of courses related to the manufacturing field, with a minimum of 9 credits taken at this university. For students directly admitted into the doctoral program, a minimum of 36 credits is required. 8. Doctoral students must complete and pass four "seminar" courses during their studies. 9. The semester grades for each course and the doctoral dissertation defense are scored out of 100, with 70 considered passing. Failure to achieve a passing grade will result in no credits being awarded. Students who fail required courses are not eligible for makeup exams and must retake the course. A passing grade for conduct is 60. Qualifying examination 10. Doctoral students must take a qualifying examination, selecting two subjects from the courses offered by the institute's doctoral program, with each professor's course limited to one selection. Applications for exams must be submitted before the start of each semester. 11. Qualifying examinations are held once per semester, generally in the third week after the start of classes. Exams are conducted in person and last one to three hours, with a passing score of 70. 12. Doctoral students must pass all qualifying examination subjects within five years of enrollment. Those who fail to do so will be dismissed when the registrar’s division is notified by the institute. Each subject may be retaken once, with at least six months between attempts and no changes in subject selection. Students who fail the retake will be dismissed when the registrar’s division is notified by the institute. Proposal submission and changes 13. After passing the qualifying examination, students must submit a doctoral dissertation proposal related to manufacturing engineering within four years of enrollment. The proposal must be signed by the doctoral dissertation advisor and approved by the institute director to become a doctoral candidate. If the doctoral dissertation proposal fails to pass the evaluation conducted by the doctoral dissertation advisor or committee appointed by the advisor, the student may submit it again, with at least one semester interval. If the second submission also fails the evaluation, the institute will notify the registration office to complete the withdrawal procedure. 14. The dissertation proposal should be prepared according to the provided form. 15. Doctoral candidates may not arbitrarily change their doctoral dissertation advisor or dissertation proposal during the research process. If a change is deemed necessary, a written request must be submitted to the institute, and a decision will be made by the institute's affairs meeting to regain the status of a doctoral candidate. Publication of journal papers 16. Doctoral students must publish or have at least two papers accepted in SCI/SCIE/SSCI academic journals related to manufacturing information and systems or manufacturing engineering. The authorship order must meet the following conditions: (1) the doctoral dissertation advisor or co-advisor must be listed.
