FLLD Course Offering Regulations

 

一、本系為能順利推展博士班、碩士班、大學部暨全校英外語課務,訂定本課程開設辦法(以下簡稱本辦法),藉以作為課程安排之準則。本系所有專任教師不分職級、不論是否兼任行政工作,皆應配合本辦法。These regulations (hereinafter the Regulations) are formulated by the Department of Foreign Languages and Literature to govern course arrangement to facilitate the administration of curricula for FLLD graduate and undergraduate programs and non-FLLD foreign language program.  All full-time faculty members, regardless of academic or administrative positions, shall comply with the Regulations.

 

二、

(一)本系專任教師每學年應授足基本授課時數(教授16小時、副教授及助理教授18小時、講師20小時),且以外文系所必修課程及全校大一二英文課程為優先。

Full-time faculty members are required to teach a minimum number of teaching hours as designated by the Department (16 as a professor, 18 as an associate/assistant professor, and 20 as a lecturer/instructor) with priority of course assignment given to FLLD and non-FLLD required courses.

(二)本系英語科專任教師原則上每學年應於外文系所、教育學程必修課(「英語教材教法」、「英語教學實習」與「英語實習輔導」)及全校共同科英語課程授足基本授課時數;每人每學年應負擔一門(含)以上系上必修、必選、教育學程必修課程或全校性英語課程,且以安排本系基礎語言訓練課程為優先。

Full-time English faculty members are required to teach a number of courses in the curricula established for FLLD undergraduate and graduate programs, educational program(Teaching Materials and Methods in TESOL, Practicum in TESOL and Internship Supervision in TESOL) and non-FLLD English courses.  Every semester, each teacher should teach at least a required course or an optional required course established for the FLLD undergraduate and graduate programs, or a required course established for NCKU educational program, with priority of course assignment given to FLLD basic language training courses.

(三)自九十九學年度起外文系作文課為所有英文專任教師必須輪教科目,採積點制(教授一學期計一點),並另訂作文課排課要點規範之。

Starting 2010 academic year, English faculty members must teach composition courses on a rotation basis with a composition point-accumulation system (one point for each semester). The rules for composition course arrangement shall be formulated in a separate text.

(三)自103學年度起,本系專任教師兼行政職已減免授課鐘點者,不得擔任「英語實習輔導」課程。擔任「英語實習輔導」課程者,每學年以一小時為限。Starting 2014 academic year, faculty members who double as administrative chiefs and are allowed exemption of teaching hours shall not be assigned Internship Supervision in TESOL. A faculty member shall be allowed a maximum of one hour for Internship Supervision in TESOL every academic year.

 

三、本系英語科助理教授(含)以上應於研究所開授課程,每學期至多開設一門課程,惟每兩學年至少開設一門課程。English faculty members, from assistant professors and above, should offer a maximum of one graduate course in a semester and a minimum of one graduate course every two years.

(一)為落實系所教學目標,並尊重學生受教權益,文學與語言學兩組教師應分別於兩組月會縝密規劃研究所課程,依照學門屬性,分別規劃出不同學群(例:文學組研究所課程四大學群分別為「浪漫時期前英國文學」、「浪漫時期及其後英國文學」、「美國文學」、「文學理論」;語言學組研究所課程三大學群分別為「理論語言學」、「應用語言學」、「外語教學」),並在月會中自行協調,務必維持每學年各學群至少開設一門課的基本門檻。To fulfill the teaching objectives of FLLD graduate programs and respect the rights of students, the faculties of literature and linguistics should discuss course attributes in their respective monthly meeting to design and organize the graduate courses into specific categories (e.g., The four major categories designed for the graduate program in literature are: British Literature before Romanticism, British Literature Since Romanticism, American Literature, and Literary Theory. The four major categories designed for the graduate program in linguistics are: Theoretic Linguistics, Applied Linguistics, and Foreign Language Teaching). Furthermore, both literature and linguistics faculty groups must, at the monthly meetings, coordinate to ensure that at least one course from each category is offered every year.

(二)兩組月會應於實際開課前一學年度上學期協調研究所開課事宜,並於上學期期末前將協調結果提交至教務人員,作為下學期排課之依據。(例:101學年度上學期末完成102學年度研究所課程之規劃。)The two faculties should meet in the first semester of the academic year to coordinate the assignments of graduate courses for the next academic year. The results of coordination should be submitted to the staffer in charge of academic affairs by the end of the first semester to facilitate the scheduling administration (e.g., The coordination of course assignments for 2013 academic year should be completed in the first semester of 2012 academic year).

 

四、本系專任教師開設選修課程,應隔兩個學期才能重複開課。(例:981開授選修A課,最快992才能再開A課。)To open an existing elective course, there must be at least a two-semester interval from its previous offering (e.g., Elective course A, offered in the first semester of 2009-10 academic year, cannot be offered again until the second semester of 2010-2011 academic year).

 

五、為保障本系所開排課、並顧及跨系院網脈之建立,擬規範教師支援其他單位開課及鐘點數。本系專任教師於滿足系所開課相關辦法,且相關專長之課程無需支援情況下,得支援外系、通識等課程,以同一教師每學期不超過3鐘點、且兩年內支援一次為原則。然教師若已經在本系開滿應授鐘點,選擇採超點鐘的方式支援其他單位開課,則不受本要點規範。To ensure the administration of course assignments for both FLLD and interdepartmental programs, the number of teaching hours for professors of all levels allowed for non-FLLD courses should be regulated. Full-time faculty members may offer courses for other departments or General Education Program provided that they conform to existing FLLD Course Offering Regulations and that they are not needed to help with any FLLD course relevant to their specialties. In principle, an instructor may offer, once every two years, a maximum of three teaching hours per semester. However, after having fulfilled the minimum teaching hour requirement designated by the Department, instructors who would like to offer courses for other departments beyond the basic teaching load are not subject to this rule.

 

六、本系專任教師開設之選修科目,如因未達開課人數標準(碩博班3人、大學部12人),依教務規定應予停開。如該科授課時數含於授課教師之基本鐘點,得簽准續開,然若已連續兩次未達開課人數標準而簽准續開,則當年度必須停開課程;如該科授課時數超出基本鐘點,得簽准續開,但不支鐘點費。若因停開造成授課鐘點不足,應於次學期補足應授鐘點。

七、因應學校課程審查流程進度,有意增設課程之教師應自行至教務辦公室索取申請表格,於期限內提出申請,並得視需要於課程委員會開會審議時列席說明。上學期八月三十一日以前提出下學期之課程綱要或各項課程異動,下學期二月二十八日以前提出新學年度上學期之課程綱要或各項課程異動。

八、欲開授之課程如為其他同仁已建構之課程,則須先取得原授課或原建構教師之書面同意始可開授。

九、所有課程之異動均須以書面方式於上述規定期限內送交教務委員會討論。

(一)系上有必、選修課程待授時,須以書面及/或EMAIL方式週知系上專任老師,以維公平並期減少爭議。

(二)本系同仁如有意接授系上必、選修課程時,也需以書面提出,並擲交系教務辦公室,俾利作業。

(三)經「課程委員會」討論決定後,再提系務會議確認。專業課程則請依課程性質,先分別請文學組教師或語言組教師交換意見,並交「課程委員會」討論後,提請系務會議確認。

(四)已排定、且經兩組月會及課程委員會確認通過之下一學期課程如有任何異動(如取消、合班、換課…等)需求,須填寫異動申請表(如附件),於每學期第十四週前向課程委員會提出申請及說明,由系主任及課程委員會審議決定始可異動。

十、本系專業必修課程與服務課程之排,原則上由行政單位依課程需要及教師授課意願處理,如有爭議或特殊狀況而無法依循上述辦法時,由課程委員會或系主任決定,並做成書面紀錄,同時於本系教師專用之加密網頁上公告周知。In principle, the administration will consider both curriculum needs and faculty members’ personal preferences for the assignments of FLLD required or service courses. Should any controversy or exceptional case arise in defiance of the aforementioned rules, the FLLD Curriculum Committee or the Chair will make a final decision, which should be documented and published in the department’s fulltime faculty-exclusive confidential website.

十一、本系專任教師未符合本開課辦法開課者,每學期名單由課程委員會提送至本系教評會、於相關福利案(如休假研究、減授鐘點、評量、升等等)申請時列入考慮,相關辦法由系教評會另訂之。

十二、本辦法經系務會議通過後實施,修訂時亦同。
